Alex Lyons works with track/cross country athletes and coaches at every level: high school, collegiate, professional, and recreational. Alex has coached all-state athletes and school record-holders at 800M, 1600M, 3200M, 4x800M, and 5K cross country, as well as qualifiers to both the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) and Foot Locker Nationals. On the track, he’s coached six different high school girls to sub-five-minute performances in the 1600M—one of whom broke the Illinois state meet record. Fourteen of his former athletes have gone on to compete for Division I programs.

A USATF Levels I and II certified coach (endurance events) and a graduate of the Altis Mentorship Program, Alex has learned from some of the best track and field coaches in the world. His mentors include Dan Pfaff, coach of nine Olympic medalists; and Wynn Gmitroski, coach of former Canadian 800M record-holder Gary Reed.

In addition to his work as a coach and consultant, Alex is a licensed massage therapist in the state of Utah, where he has done manual therapy for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. His combined background in coaching and musculoskeletal treatment gives him a unique, holistic view of each athlete: an ability to integrate health and performance to achieve optimal results.
